Good advice, for 2007. Now outdated.
I have read the book cover to cover and was impressed with the vision and guidance offered... until I spoke with a friend who is now in the process of obtaining a mortgage and learned that much of what I learned from book is outdated. For example, the book teaches you should get the honest lenders estimate several prior to applying for a mortgage and how to read the good faith estimate. However, after the housing crisis, regulations changed and now you cannot get a GFE until after request you the loan, and changed the GFE format so that the book teaches how reading is no longer needed. The author should update this book to make it useful.

Very helpful, with the added benefit of web support
The book provides many practical tips, pragmatic, particularly useful for the first time home buyers and mortgage shoppers. It contributes greatly to ask the right questions and critical asessing the validity of the responses received. Great value is companion web site where the author provides extra help, custom. I have personally tried and I got responses from right-to-the-point a few hours after posting the question.
